We are a community based organization/CBO based in kibera with the direct membership of 30 individuals who are united with a vision of transforming our soceital socio-economic status for the better.
Membership is categorized into:
i) Founder membership
ii)Ordinary membership
iii)Honourary membership.
Activities at a glance:
1.Education programme ECDE (Early childhood Development Education)
-Our ECD comprise of categories of babycare,babyclass,Nursery & pre-unit respectively and routinely inspected by the minisrty of education department.
2. Confrencing facilities:
mchanganyiko has a multi-purpose hall for confrencing,and community get-together forums.e.g weddings,parties,fundraisers,prayers etc.Despite being a modest facility made sorely from corrugated iron sheets and wood,its importance is crucial in this slum neighbourhood where ther are no social Halls,It can acommodate 100 seated audience.An -upgrade is necessary though funds are not yet forthcome.
iii)Tents & Chair Hire services.
iv)GSL(Grup savings and Loan) Members save with the group and hence given small loans to increase their financial capacities.
v)Catering Department/Unit
The cooking skills for the women members is very rich and they can be hired to do outside catering,give consultancies on cooking.Especially on African dishes of the swahili,luo,kamba,luhya,kikuyu,etc.This is also part of the income generating activity in the group.
vi)PTC(Post test club)
This are a group of women who are among us and HIV Positive.They meet once a week to sensitive them selves on real life issues affecting them in the society and how to curb obstacles ahead of them.
vii)Tents/Chair hire services.
The group has a 50 capacity canvas tent.And 60 plastic chairs for hire.Our action plan requires that this numbers need to be increased .
viii)Organic farming:
We are liasing with a local organization as partners on organic farming,whereby vegetyables are grown on sacks.This is due to lack of land space for wider agricultural activities in our slum set-up.We also have a complete proposal on green house tomatoes that stands to be funded.Any intrested party out there who will venture with us on this can kindly contact us on this.The budget required was Ksh 250,000/- or USD 3289.
